Transeasonal Fashion Capsule Wardrobe

August 09, 2010 · No Comments

Why is it that we Brits are never happy with the weather? It’s always too hot or too cold!

But look on the bright side... we get guaranteed seasons, which means we often know exactly what our staple capsule wardrobes should contain throughout the year. Dresses, skirts, and sandals come out during spring/summer time and jackets, knitwear and boots come to the surface of our wardrobes in the colder months.

The challenge therefore is knowing what to wear in transeasonal weather - it's time to get those wardrobes ready for Autumn.

Here are some key pieces that I think are great for transeasonal fashion this Autumn.

1) Light parkers:

They are light enough to handle any warm weather or humidity and they tend to come in wind proof material to handle the wind. Parkers are also very trendy and come in various designs for every Bentall Shopper. Newlook, Miss Selfridge and Top Shop have a great range. This floral parka is from Miss Selfridge for £45.

Packing for holiday evening wear

August 02, 2010 · No Comments

So it’s August and you probably want to make the most of the last month of summer by going on holiday. Since summer began I bet you’ve seen every holiday capsule wardrobe you could imagine. By now you know what’s hot and what’s not when out on the beach or seeing sights but what most people struggle with is what to wear in the evening. After all, you are on holiday and the same way you don’t want to wear the same clothes you wear at home in the daytime, you don’t want to wear the same evening wear either, especially when you want to embrace the new weather and environment. Here are some things to consider when picking out holiday evening outfits.

TIP 1 - Look for pieces that have great drapery. You will get that feeling of freedom in the outfit rather than wearing something that will stick to your skin or irritate you. Not to mention, It looks great when a calm breeze blows on a piece that is well draped.

TIP 2 - Get a scarf/shawl to wrap around you when it gets a bit chilly. Pick one that will complement what you’re already wearing. After all, when you put it on, it will become part of your outfit as a whole.

TIP 3 - Accessorise well. There are many stores and brands to look at in the centre that will provide you with the pieces to your perfect holiday outfits. It all depends on your budget of course. Bentalls caters to everyone. If your aiming high, try DKNY, Coast or ted baker or if you love all things high street try H&M, Newlook or Miss selfridge for example. Claire’s Accessories, Toko and SWAG are great for accessorising.

Here are some examples for some holiday evening wear.
